As October 1, 2024, licensing fees will increase 3.8%. New licence or exam applications received as of October 1, 2024 will be charged the updated fee. For licence renewals, invoices will reflect the fee as of the date the invoice is issued.
Licence fees are used to cover the administration of the program, as well as provide funding for public awareness campaigns and enforcement against unlicensed contractors. The increase reflects the inflationary pressures and economic headwinds that the ESA, and many organizations, are facing, while continuing to deliver on the ESA’s important mandate for sector and public education, and invest in operational efficiencies and the digital strategy.
ESA is committed to processing 80% of new complete Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor licence applications within 30 business days. Learn more about ESA's commitment here.
