Standards of Service
ESA is committed to processing 80% of new complete Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor applications within 30 business days.
Once the Licensing Team has received a complete licence application, along with the supporting documentation, the team will review the file to ensure that the application is complete. The applicant may be contacted if additional information is required.
Please note: Incomplete applications may result in further delays and/or return of the application.
The Electrical Safety Authority will take one of the following actions on the application once the assessment process is complete:
- Granting of a licence — If the application is completed correctly, a licence fee is processed and the licence is granted, the applicant will be notified by email.
- In case the license is denied, or granted subject to Conditions or Limitations, the applicant will receive further correspondence with the details outlining next steps.
What to Expect After Licence Is Granted
Applicants will receive an email notifying them of the approved licence and additional materials as applicable.
Once you receive your licence, please take time to review requirements applicable to Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians, including Licence Holder Standards of Conduct and Guidelines for Licence Holders.
