Hardship Clause Public Consultation

MGCS 570/05 Licensing of Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians

In April, the Provincial Government held a public consultation on proposed changes to introduce an undue hardship clause under ESA’s Licensing of Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians. On June 12, 2019, the Provincial Government announced that the undue hardship clause has been officially adopted into law. This amendments will come into effect on January 1, 2020.

The introduction of an undue hardship clause will permit the Statutory Director of Licensing the discretion to allow additional time (within reason) for Master Electrician licensees to meet the renewal deadline if they have missed it due to undue hardship (e.g. serious illness).
