Continuing Education
In December 2020, the Auditor General (AG) of Ontario published a “ValueforMoney” Audit of the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). The report outlined multiple recommendations for the ESA. One of these recommendations focuses on continuing education. This includes mandatory continuing education for Master Electricians (MEs) to enhance safety and compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC). Continuing education (CE) is a series of learning activities such as workshops, e-learning and seminars. ESA proposes that MEs will be required to complete CE as part of the license renewal process (every five years).
ESA collected input on a model for delivering continuing education to understand stakeholder issues, concerns and priorities relating: to what to include in continuing education, how often it is required, and who needs to complete continuing education. The consultation closed July 15, 2021.
Consultation Feedback
The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) thanks all stakeholders who submitted comments and feedback during the public consultation on continuing education.
