Set the Coffee Bar

Wake Up & Smell the Coffee

If you love a good latte or a soothing cup of chamomile, then consider a dedicated coffee bar in the kitchen. Ideally place it away from the prep/cleaning/cooking/baking areas so your guests can self-serve while you put the finishing touches on brunch.

If you’re thinking of hard-wiring plumbed features like an espresso maker, you’ll need to consider whether or not you have enough electrical capacity. And if your appliances are going to be located behind closed doors or cabinetry, make sure to consult with your Licensed Electrical Contractor about the electrical implications and limitations.

A door interlocked switch may be required to automatically turn off the outlets when the door is closed.

Also, keep in mind that Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets are required for any outlets located 1.5 metres from a sink to help prevent shocks from water – and this may need to be factored into your coffee station. Your Licensed Electrical Contractor will make sure every last electrical detail is done according to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

Caffeine and peace of mind – an excellent combination.

Tip!

Seek an expert’s advice when it comes to placing under cabinet lighting. Look for even distribution which is easier on the eye than dark and hot spots.
