John Rossiter Appointed by Minister Tracy MacCharles to the Board of the Electrical Safety Authority
MISSISSAUGA, ON – July 19, 2017 – John Rossiter has been appointed to the board of directors of the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) by the Honourable Tracy MacCharles, Minister of Government and Consumer Services.
“I am pleased to make this appointment,” said Minister MacCharles. “The Electrical Safety Authority’s efforts over the years have greatly improved the safety of the people of Ontario. It’s an important mandate and requires a strong and talented board.”
Mr. Rossiter is the Chief Executive Officer of SEM-ENG International Limited and provides strategic planning, public affairs and public policy consulting to clients in sectors including energy, environment, economic development and international business.
“We’re pleased to welcome John to the board of the Electrical Safety Authority,” said Brian Bentz, ESA Board Chair. “We welcome his expertise and perspectives in support of our mandate to enhance safety and administer the province’s electrical safety regulations.”
Mr. Rossiter is currently the Chair of the Board of the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority and is a member of the Algonquin College Program Advisory Committee – Retirement Residence Management Graduate Certificate Program. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree majoring in management practices and marketing from Carleton University. Born in Newfoundland, he lives with his family in Ottawa.
“I look forward to working with my fellow directors and contributing to ESA’s goal of making Ontario a place where everyone can live, work and play safe from electrical harm,” said Rossiter.
Three of the 12 ESA board directors are appointed by the Minister of Government and Consumer Services.

The Electrical Safety Authority's (ESA’s) role is to enhance public electrical safety in Ontario. As an administrative authority acting on behalf of the Government of Ontario, ESA is responsible for administering specific regulations related to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, the licensing of Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians, electricity distribution system safety, and electrical product safety.
