The Pre-Master Electrician Course is designed to expand the knowledge and skills of individuals who are interested in and qualified to write the Master Electrician Examination. This 12-module training course references specific sections of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, other pertinent legislation, electrical calculations, and trade and business practices.

What You Will Learn

Pre-Master course participants will learn about important topics such as:

  • Trends in the Ontario Electrical Safety Report
  • Importance and responsibilities of Licensed Electrical Contractors and Designated Master Electricians
  • Code rules, including the Ontario Amendments
  • Rules pertaining to high-voltage installations
  • Duties of owners, constructors and supervisors under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S Act)
  • Incident investigation process
  • Elements of a Health and Safety Program
  • Steps involved in a Job Safety Analysis
  • Basics of an Emergency Response Plan
  • Limits of approach and lockout / tag-out procedures
  • Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, and the Construction Act

Prior to commencing the course, learners are encouraged to confirm they are eligible for an ECRA/ESA Master Electrician Licence. This course is not a prerequisite to write the Master Electrician Examination.
