Ontario Electrical
Safety Code (OESC)

The OESC (O. Reg. 777/21) is mostly a technical document, which details the standards for electrical installations, products and equipment in Ontario.

Important OESC updates and interpretations are published via Bulletins, Flash Notices, and Guidelines; and public notifications of unapproved electrical equipment through Recalls and Safety Alerts.

Electrical Code/Technical Frequently Asked Questions

ESA manages a Frequently Asked Questions knowledge base which is intended to provide information on the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and its application.

Note: FAQs should not be considered advice on how to do electrical work. Always refer to a qualified electrician or electrical contractor.

Bulletins/Recalls/Flash Notices/Guidelines

OESC updates and interpretations are published via Bulletins, Recalls & Safety Alerts, Flash Notices, and Guidelines, which are posted to ESA’s website.

Please note only sample bulletins are posted to website. To get the full bulletins and their updates, you must purchase the OESC and join “CSA Communities” to subscribe to the Bulletins.
