LOOK OUT  for these electrical hazards....

Phase 2

Look for the following signs indicating potential electrical shock or fire hazard. Contact a licensed electrical contractor if you notice any of these signs.

FUSES OR CIRCUITS THAT FREQUENTLY TRIP FUSES OR CIRCUITS THAT FREQUENTLY TRIP
Overheated plugs or outlets, fuses that blow, or circuits that frequently trip, indicate overloading of the circuit or possibly faulty electrical wiring or equipment.



GFCIs THAT DO NOT WORK WHEN TESTED GFCIs THAT DO NOT WORK WHEN TESTED
Test GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets monthly, as per manufacturer’s instructions, to ensure they are operating properly. Defective GFCI outlets can be identified by pushing the test button – if power stays on after you have pushed the test button your GFCI is defective. (Defects are more common with older GFCI products.)



LIGHTS THAT FLICKER LIGHTS THAT FLICKER
Dim or flickering lights can be a sign of a loose connection in a lighting circuit, fixture, or your electrical service.

Damaged wires or signs of deterioration to wire sheath, where exposed, can present shock or fire hazard – and indicate possible concerns with your home’s electrical system.
